Councillor's 999 fire controversy

A councillor in charge of fire services tried to contact the chief fire officer on his mobile phone instead of dialling 999 when he smelled burning.

Mike Raeburn works as a teacher at Northfield Academy in Aberdeen.

Grampian firefighters who were called to the school have complained to their union over the incident.

Aberdeen City Council said it did not condone his actions. He has been admonished over the matter. Mr Raeburn said he did nothing wrong.
