Thieves escape with pet tortoise

Police have appealed for information after a pet tortoise was stolen from a family's garden.

The Russian Steppe tortoise was taken from Robert Street in Buckie between 1100 BST and 1500 BST on Friday 26 June.

A Grampian Police spokeperson said: "The tortoise is a much-loved family pet and is greatly missed."

Police said they were keen to speak to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time.
