Regimental museum lines up funds

The Gordon Highlanders Museum in Aberdeen has won a £20,000 grant.

The funding, from Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS), will go towards a project aimed at helping children to understand heritage.

Sarah Malone, executive director of the museum, said the money would enable a "fun, interactive, child-friendly" facility for visitors.

The museum was one of 10 projects across Scotland winning more than £150,000 from MGS.

Joanne Orr, chief executive officer of MGS, said: "We are delighted to have been able to fund some really exciting projects."

The Gordon Highlanders Museum recently won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

In 1994, the famous regiment was amalgamated to become part of the Highlanders. Prince Charles was its last colonel-in-chief.
