Store loses licence due to drugs

Costcutter was targeted during Operation Lochnagar in March

An Aberdeen shop has been stripped of its licence to sell alcohol after an employee was caught selling drugs from the store, police have revealed.

The 48-year-old female at Costcutter in Great Northern Road was earlier jailed for two years and three months.

Grampian Police said it had also been investigating claims of alcohol being sold to under-age children.

Aberdeen City Council's licensing board decided to suspended the licence until 1 September at its Thursday meeting.

Insp John Soutar said: "We welcome the suspension by the licensing board of this licence."

The drugs crime emerged during Operation Lochnagar - the largest enforcement operation in the history of Grampian Police - in March.
