Ballot over bus action under way

First bus - generic
Similar action last year brought buses to a standstill

A strike ballot of hundreds of staff members at First Bus in Aberdeen is getting under way.

The T&G Unite union is recommending a vote in favour of industrial action this summer, after a postal ballot over pay was authorised.

First management have said they are disappointed about the move, and that a pay award would be possible if drivers agreed to a change in terms.

The ballot results are expected to be known on 7 July.

Similar action last year brought buses to a standstill before a deal was done.
