Queen's Award for regiment museum

The Gordon Highlanders Museum in Aberdeen has won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

Said to be the equivalent of an MBE, it recognises dedication and commitment.

Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeen, Peter Stephen, said: "The volunteers do a sterling job and contribute to the museum's continued success."

In 1994, the famous regiment was amalgamated to become part of the Highlanders. Prince Charles was its last colonel-in-chief.
