Support for city alcohol service

An alcohol support service has been thrown a lifeline by Grampian Police, BBC Scotland can reveal.

The scheme at Albyn House in Aberdeen, which offers a bed to people rather than hospital or a police cell, faced an uncertain future.

It followed council funding cutbacks last year.

Its short-term future has now been secured after the joint police board agreed what was believed to be a substantial funding package.
