An Aberdeenshire councillor has been reported to the Standards Commission by the Trump Organisation after accusing it of breaking access laws.

Ellon councillor Debra Storr said the company had blocked public access to the beach at the Menie Estate, where a £1bn Trump golf resort is planned.

The Trump Organisation said it only locked some gates following problems with quad bikes on the dunes.

Ms Storr said she was confident of being cleared of any breach of conduct.

The US tycoon's proposal for two championship golf courses, 950 holiday homes and 500 houses were rejected by an Aberdeenshire Council committee before being called in by the Scottish Government and approved.

Ms Storr was one of the councillors who opposed the US tycoon's plans.

The Standards Commission monitors the conduct of local authority councillors and those who work for public bodies.
