Drink-driver caused nephew death

A drink-driver has admitted causing his teenage nephew's death after he crashed in Aberdeenshire while double the legal limit.

John Ball, 36, was driving his 18-year-old nephew Shaun Eaton after a night out when he lost control of his car.

Mr Eaton, from Mastrick, Aberdeen, was pronounced dead after the crash on the B999 in July 2007.

Ball, of Pitmedden, admitted causing by dangerous driving at the High Court in Dundee. Sentence was deferred.

Fellow motorists who saw Ball driving described him as "idiotic" and "ridiculous".

Lord Emslie deferred sentence for reports until 12 January.
