Strike 'to hit traffic and sales'

Sales shoppers
The strike could cause problems for Christmas shoppers

A weekend bus strike in Aberdeen is expected to cause traffic problems for the city centre and potential lost sales for shops ahead of Christmas.

Local drivers and other depot staff at First Bus are due to stage the first of three weekend stoppages on Saturday.

They are seeking a 5% pay rise after rejecting the latest offer negotiated through conciliation service Acas.

This weekend's 24-hour stoppage is due to be followed by two 48-hour weekend strikes.
