Festive bus strike action planned

Three weekends of First Bus action are planned

First Bus staff in Aberdeen are planning strike action for the three busy weekends leading up to Christmas, it has been announced.

Hundreds of members of the Unite T&G union have voted for action over pay.

A 24-hour strike is planned from 0300 GMT on Saturday 6 December, with 48-hour stoppages planned to start on the following two Fridays.

First Bus said as much cover would be arranged as possible, and hoped ACAS talks on Monday would be productive.

The talks with the conciliation service are being held after the company was notified of the action.

The company's offer of 3.7% to drivers, cleaning staff and engineering staff has been rejected.

Meanwhile, Stagecoach staff in Aberdeenshire and the Highlands are being consulted after further talks aimed at averting strike action in those areas.
