Lorry drivers at a major Scottish transport company are being balloted for industrial action following a pay dispute.

Mcphersons of Aberlour has more than 400 vehicles operating across Scotland and the north of England.

It specialises in the distribution of spirits such as whisky and vodka.

A T&G Unite spokesman said the union regretted the need for the ballot as this was the first major dispute at the company for several years.

Tommy Campbell told BBC Scotland: "We have almost 100 drivers in the union and there is a campaign to have higher wages, professional wages in fact, for professional drivers.

"It's sad that it's come to this but the drivers aren't going to apologise at all for any action that they take, if it comes to it."

He said the result of the ballot was expected in mid November.
