Nine-year-old cyclist 'critical'

A nine-year-old cyclist who suffered head injuries after a collision with a car in Stonehaven has been left in a critical condition.

Wezlee Clark was riding his bike in the Farrochie Park area at about 1700 BST on Tuesday when the collision with a grey Mazda 3 happened.

He was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital.

Schoolboy Wezlee was later transferred to hospital in Edinburgh for more treatment.

The 30-year-old female driver of the Mazda was taken to hospital in Stonehaven but was released following treatment for shock.

Grampian Police, appealing for witnesses, said a section of Farrochie Road was closed for about eight hours while a collision investigation was carried out.
