Woman badly hurt in bus accident

A female pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a collision with a bus in Aberdeen.

The accident happened near the Nigg Post Office on Wellington Road just before 0700 BST.

The woman, 47, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Grampian Police appealed for witnesses. They said the woman had suffered multiple injuries, and that her condition was "serious but stable".

Accident investigation

Wellington Road had to be closed northbound near the scene for about five hours.

A police spokesman said: "Enquiries into this collision are progressing well with a number of witnesses already spoken to. However we are keen to hear from anyone else who may have witnessed this serious incident."

A spokeswoman for bus operators Stagecoach said: "Our thoughts and best wishes are with the pedestrian involved.

"We are assisting the police with their inquiries as well as carrying out our own investigation into the incident."
