Two new care homes get go-ahead

Highland councillors have granted outline planning permission for two new care homes for the elderly.

The proposed buildings at Caol in Lochaber and at Muir of Ord were both recommended for approval by planning officials.

Highland Council's plan to build five new care homes has been a key policy since May 2007.

The local authority decided last year to fund the £21m costs itself rather than involve the private sector.
