The ClerkMaxwell management hope to create 100 jobs in two years

A new Aberdeen engineering consultancy for the oil and gas sector could create up to 100 jobs, it has been predicted.

Fifteen new positions have been created initially at ClerkMaxwell, with plans to increase to 50 by the end of the first year of trading.

The hope is to expand again to between 70 and 100 in the second year.

Industry figures Alistair Dornan, John Wilson, Sean Close and Satnam Shoker are behind the venture, which aims to deliver projects more effectively.

Chief executive officer Mr Dornan said: "We have brought together a significant pool of highly respected talent for the launch of ClerkMaxwell and I believe that this will give us considerable competitive advantage."

The company takes its name from James Clerk Maxwell, a famous former professor of physics at Marischal College in Aberdeen.

Mr Dornan added: "By selecting the name ClerkMaxwell we have a lot to live up to."
