A man who died in Aberdeen could not have survived a single stab wound to his heart, a murder trial has heard.
John Anderson, 29, denies murdering William Reeve, 41, who died after an incident in February.
Pathologist David Sadler said Mr Reeve suffered a single stab wound to his heart, an injury which he could not have survived.
The jury will return to the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday to hear closing speeches before considering a verdict.
Mr Anderson, from Aberdeen, claims he was acting in self defence. He will not be giving evidence.
'Got me'
The Crown dropped all charges against the accused's brother George Anderson, 33, who had been accused of assault and breach of the peace.
Earlier in the trial, the jury heard that Mr Reeve had set out to "batter" the brothers after they had allegedly attacked his son, who is handicapped, the previous evening.
Technician and part-time musician Mr Reeve took his friend Jimmy Graham, who was armed with a meat cleaver, with him for back up.
Minutes after the confrontation in Beattie Avenue, Aberdeen, on 22 February, Mr Reeve collapsed and said: "They got me Jim".
Mr Reeve's widow Julie left the court in tears after hearing Mr Graham describe her husband's last moments.
