Police step up missing man hunt

Officers hoped someone would remember seeing Mr Campbell

Police have questioned motorists driving past the area where missing father Stuart Campbell was last seen.

The 32-year-old vanished on 12 August after visiting his baby daughter, a patient at Aberdeen Royal Children's Hospital.

Officers stopped traffic on Westburn Road and spoke to pedestrians between 1000 BST and noon.

They hope to jog the memory of anyone who was in the area and may have seen Mr Campbell leaving the hospital.

The father-of-two, from Portgordon, was last seen leaving the hospital by the front door, before heading along Westburn Road in the direction of North Anderson Drive, shortly after 1000 BST last Tuesday.

Stocky build

Mr Campbell wore a short-sleeved polo shirt, mainly cream and chocolate brown in colour with bright orange, cream and blue horizontal stripes as well as light blue denim jeans and brown trainers.

He is described as 5ft 8ins tall, with a stocky build, short, fair hair and tattoos on both arms. He speaks with a slight stammer.

Police teams have been searching woodland areas around Aberdeen since the weekend, and divers have also been called in to search parts of the River Don.

Det Insp Stewart Kidd, of Grampian Police, said: "We are hoping that, by questioning motorists, pedestrians and other people in the area, we will be able to jog people's memories.

"Hopefully someone will recall seeing Mr Campbell as he walked up Westburn Road last Tuesday morning."

Det Insp Kidd said there had been some response from the public and several possible sightings were being investigated.

He added that the searches, and a poster campaign, would continue.
