Three crewmen who died in a fishing boat fire at Fraserburgh Harbour have been named.

Rimants Venckus, 50, from Latvia, and Filipinos Ramilito Capangpangan Calipayan and Benjamin Rosello Potot, both 33, died on Friday 1 August.

They were on board the prawn trawler Vision II.

Grampian Police Det Ins Martin Dunn, said: "Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the three men who tragically lost their lives."

He added: "We are also appealing for anyone who may have seen Mr Venckus, Mr Calipayan or Mr Potot in the hours prior to the fire to contact Grampian Police."

It is thought foreign crew members sometimes sleep on the boats in the harbour.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) is investigating the fire.

It is not being treated by police as suspicious.
