Wardens balloted on strike action

The council wants to merge the roles of community and parking wardens

Unions representing parking and community wardens in Aberdeen are to be balloted for strike action in a row over plans to merge the two roles.

Talks broke down this week and the T&G Unite union asked for the conciliation service Acas to be brought in.

Aberdeen City Council turned that down, claiming the majority of wardens were in favour of the merger.

The union argued that community wardens issuing parking tickets would not promote good relations.
