Martin Ford used his casting vote on the Trump golf vote

The Aberdeenshire councillor whose vote defeated Donald Trump's £1bn golf resort plans is considering trying to become an MP.

Martin Ford may stand for the Lib Dem nomination for Aberdeen South in the next General Election.

The seat has been held by Labour's Anne Begg for 11 years.

Mr Ford was sacked as chairman of the council's infrastructure services committee after his casting vote saw the Trump plan thrown out.

The application is now to be decided by Scottish ministers.
