Scotland the What? made their debut in 1969
Comedy trio Scotland the What? have received the freedom of Aberdeen in a ceremony in the city centre.
George Donald, Stephen Robertson and Buff Hardie are said to have brought a very special brand of local humour to a global audience.
Hundreds of people turned out at His Majesty's Theatre (HMT) for the event, as well as lining the streets to watch an afternoon procession.
Nelson Mandela and Sir Alex Ferguson are among previous recipients.
The trio made their debut as Scotland the What? at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1969.
They were made MBEs for services to entertainment in Scotland in 1995 and on 25 November of that year took their final curtain call after a career which took them around the world.
