A diver missing in the North Sea since Saturday has been named as Steven Darren Ottewell by police.

The 38-year-old was feared dead after he failed to resurface after exploring a wreck in Scapa Flow off the Orkney Islands.

He was recently of Cuddington, Cheshire, and formerly of Selston, Nottingham.

A coastguard helicopter and two lifeboats braved gale force winds during the search at the weekend.

Mr Ottewell had been diving from the dive boat Karen down to the vessel Markgraf, 40m below the surface, with a colleague.

Emergency services were called and a major search was launched, co-ordinated by Shetland Coastguard.

Coastguard rescue teams from Hoy and Stromness were also involved in the operation.
