Threatened pool may not be saved

A pensioner campaigning to save Aberdeen's Bon Accord Baths is not sure it can be saved, despite collecting a 12,000-signature petition.

George Pettifer was spurred into action by plans to close the pool, as part of the city council's budget savings.

Mr Pettifer, 79, said the opposition to the plan was clear, but said he feared the decision may not be reversed.

The council said it has to close the baths as it is currently subsidising the venue to the tune of £11 a visitor.
