Warning over teaching jobs fear

Teachers of primary and secondary pupils could be affected

Any moves to make teachers redundant in Aberdeen could be met with industrial action, a union has warned.

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) said it fears between 60 and 80 teaching posts could go in the city's secondary schools because of cuts.

It is feared there could also be an impact on staffing in primary schools.

The union's Aberdeen representative Grant Bruce is meeting with the council's chief executive. The council has so far not commented on the claims.

Mr Bruce told BBC Scotland: "Teachers are quite worried, they are concerned, there is so much rumour going around."
