Grampian Police asked drivers to be patient
An investigation is under way in Elgin after a woman was found critically injured in the middle of a road.

The woman was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital where she later died.

Grampian Police said the unidentified woman was discovered in Alexandra Road, near to Cooper Park, below a footpath at about 0140 GMT on Thursday.

Officers said that the A96 in the centre of the town was closed until further notice while investigations take place.

Traffic diversions were set up and police appealed to drivers to be patient.
