The Grampian Police text alert campaign launch
|
A text service where members of the public can report anyone they suspect of drinking and driving is part of Grampian Police's festive clampdown.
Chief Inspector Tom Forrester said people who drove under the influence of drink were at a significantly higher risk of being involved in a collision.
He said "Could you live with the death of another person on your conscience?"
So far in 2007 there have been almost 800 people in the area reported to the procurator fiscal for drink-driving.
Chief Inspector Forrester added: "This year we are launching the text service where members of the public can report anyone they suspect to be drinking and driving.
"Families are being devastated due to people driving under the influence, don't make it your family this Christmas. Don't ever drink and drive".
The text number is 07739 934 444.
