The proposed site is at the Kingswells Park and Ride site
Community leaders in Kingswells say they will fight plans to establish a halting site for gypsy travellers.

Aberdeen City Council wants to establish a total of four new halting sites for travellers, two in the north of the city and two in the south.

A new encampment at the Kingswells Park and Ride site has emerged as the preferred choice of a committee.

Objectors say it is too close to a residential area and will also impinge on operations at the park and ride.

A delegation from the local community council is now preparing to address the full city council who will make the final decision next month.

It is recommended that another site in the north of the city will be a location still to be identified at Bridge of Don.
