Smoke ban pensioner trial delayed

The trial of a pensioner believed to be the first person in Scotland taken to court for allegedly smoking in a public place has been delayed.

John Wraith, 67, denies smoking in the Burnett Arms Hotel in Kemnay, Aberdeenshire, on 3 January.

He admitted throwing glass tumblers at a woman in the bar after being asked to leave, and shouting and swearing.

A witness was missing and Mr Wraith, from Kemnay, is now due to face trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in December.
