Police said passenger Mr Eaton died at the scene of the crash
An 18-year-old passenger killed in a road crash in Aberdeenshire has been named by police.

Shaun Eaton, from Mastrick in Aberdeen, was pronounced dead at the scene of the smash on the B999 on Saturday morning, just south of Whitecairns.

The driver of the car was injured and is being treated in hospital.

A Grampian Police spokesman said the investigation into the circumstances of the one-vehicle crash was still at an early stage.

Hit and run

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on the south bound carriageway of the A90.

The accident happened near the Blackdog Ranges, Balmedie, at about 0210 BST on Saturday.

Police said the pedestrian was a passenger on a Stagecoach Bluebird bus which dropped him at Blackdog earlier. They have appealed for information.

Detectives are also seeking a driver who struck a woman on Skene Street in Aberdeen in the early hours of Saturday.

The vehicle failed to stop and was last seen driving in the direction of Woolmanhill. The woman received minor injuries.
