Police believe the goods were taken in a wheelie bin
A thief is believed to have escaped with jewellery worth thousands of pounds in Aberdeenshire by using a wheelie bin for the haul.

The break-in to the house in Jackson Street, Inverurie, happened late on Friday afternoon.

A "substantial quantity" of jewellery was taken along with personal items.

Grampian Police are keen to trace a man aged about 30 who was seen approaching houses in the area and was possibly carrying a bottle of wine.

The man was described as being about 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, with short light hair, wearing a light-coloured top and trousers.

Police believe the stolen property was removed in a wheelie bin.
