Shetland equal pay delay demand

Letters have been set to the council employees

Unions in Shetland are calling on the island authority to put on hold their controversial single status pay offer for six months.

Members of Unison, the GMB and TGWU have written a joint letter calling for the council to return to the negotiating table.

Letters have been sent out to all employees detailing how they will be affected by the equal pay plans.

Unison claims over half of council staff could be facing a pay cut.

The single status agreement aims to give men and women an equal salary for the same value of work across manual and office jobs.
