Rescue teams aid missing climbers

Two climbers have been rescued after spending the night in freezing conditions and deep snow in the Cairngorms.

The men, aged 26 and 37 and from the Aberdeen area, were reported overdue from Lochnagar on Sunday night.

They had become disorientated in the dark and shared a bivvy bag for warmth.

Grampian Police and Braemar mountain rescue teams found the men on Monday morning. The "cold but unhurt" pair were taken to safety.

Team leader Sgt Andrew Todd, of Grampian Police, told BBC Scotland: "They did the right thing, they had the right equipment and knew how to use it - it's critical you know how to use the equipment.

"They were cold, tired and hungry, we gave them some hot food and drinks."
