More than 60 people took part in the annual event
Dozens of people braved the cold water at Aberdeen beach to raise thousands of pounds for charity on Boxing Day.

More than 60 fundraisers took part in the annual Aberdeen Lions Club Nippy Dipper event.

It saw people running into the North Sea in fancy dress, including cartoon characters and Santas, to raise money for various local charities.

Those taking part in the Boxing Day Nippy Dipper event on Tuesday morning included Lord Provost John Reynolds.

He said: "The Nippy Dip is a fantastic event and it is all a bit of fun in aid of local good causes, with lots of hardy souls dipping into the sea in their swimsuits and fancy dress."

A Lions Club spokesman said: "The event is run by the club to enable people in the north east to raise money for their own charity."
