Band aims to rock all over world
Estrella
Estrella hope a London win could propel them to fame
A young classic rock band is hoping to win $100,000 and a world tour in a prestigious competition finale.

Estrella will represent Scotland at the Global Battle of the Bands Final in London's Astoria on Tuesday night.

The five-piece Aberdeen-based outfit, originally from Thurso, will take on another 25 bands from around the world.

Estrella lead vocalist Paul Gunn said: "We are absolutely delighted to be representing Scotland and we hope we do everyone proud."

'Good old days'

Paul's brothers Luke Gunn and Tommy Gunn are on lead guitar and bass, with Graham Christie on rhythm guitar and Brian Wade on drums.

Estrella won the Scottish final at The Arches in Glasgow in November.

There are only two rules in the competition, namely that all bands must play their own material and there must be no pre-recorded material.

Paul added: "The Global Battle of Bands is a major competition and we had to go through a number of heats before we made it to the final.

"We play all our own songs and are heavily influenced by classic rock. We want to bring the genre back and get people rockin' like the good old days."

Previous winners Kopec and Second are now signed to record labels on the back of their success.
