Orkney water warning after floods
Scottish Water at Kirkbister
Orkney did not escape the heavy rain across Scotland
Scottish Water has urged people in mainland Orkney to help conserve supplies in the wake of last week's heavy rain and floods.

Engineers have managed to partially fix the treatment works at the Kirbister Reservoir.

However there is a warning that pumps needed to force the water up to a tank are still out of action, and reserves are dwindling.

Tips on conserving water include having showers instead of baths.

Other advice is only filling kettles with the amount of water needed, not leaving taps running, leaving washing machines and dishwashers until they are full before use, and fixing dripping taps.

Further local heavy rain on Monday saw Northern Constabulary warning drivers to be aware of surface water on the roads.

The flooding last week caused chaos across many parts of north and north east Scotland.
