The Hub

A new social centre for Aberdeen University students has just opened at the Kings College Campus.

The Hub is on the site of the former central refectory, and encompasses bars, an internet cafe and various student services.

The £8m facility is now also open to the general public.

One of the main highlights of the new centre will be the 'globalhub', with a display of plasma screens showing news headlines from across the world.

Robin Harper, the university's rector and Green Party co-convener, said: "I would like to congratulate the University of Aberdeen on its commitment to providing some of the best facilities for student services in Scotland.

"I look forward to calling in to The Hub during my next regular visit to the Students' Association."
