Police said the inconsiderate driving was disheartening

Bad driving and drug use which raised concern near an Aberdeen primary school have been targeted by police.

Residents around Skene Square Primary School complained that the safety of children was being threatened by inconsiderate motorists and drugs.

Five drivers have now been charged with failing to wear seatbelts and several were given advice about their driving.

A 31-year-old man was also charged by Grampian Police with being in possession of drugs.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers conducted an operation in the Rosemount area of the city in relation to complaints from residents.

"It is disheartening to find motorists driving without consideration for their own safety and for the safety of young school children in the community.

"Operations such as these are intended to re-assure the public that their concerns are taken seriously and dealt with accordingly."
