A 53-year-old man who died after being hit by a car during the Granite City rally has been named by police.

Graham Lewis, from Northwich in Cheshire, suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by another competitor's car in the rally in Aberdeenshire.

He had been standing beside his car in the Clashindarroch Forest near Mytice when he was hit on Saturday afternoon.

Grampian Police said Mr Lewis was competing in the event as a navigator at the time of the collision.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

The rally, which had about 80 competitors, was stopped after the collision.
