Police have appealed for information about a missing monk on the first anniversary of his disappearance.
Father Maurus was last seen one year ago
Father Maurus Deegan was 93 when he went missing from Pluscarden Abbey in Moray on Thursday 12 May last year.
An initial five-day search failed to find any trace of deaf Father Maurus, who was last seen on the Pluscarden to Forres road.
Grampian Police said the disappearance of the elderly monk remained a complete mystery.
Det Con Dave Robertson said: "No reason for his disappearance has ever come to light.
"Father Maurus, although elderly, was still extremely fit and was able to walk long distances. He was easily recognised and well-known in the community and surrounding areas.
"While we have to keep an open mind, with the passage of time and given Father Mauras's age we have to consider the possibility that he took ill somewhere in a secluded area in circumstances that he was unable to seek assistance.
"Everything that could be done to date has been done."
He added: "There is an ongoing enquiry into his disappearance, if any new information comes to light, however trivial it may appear, then obviously we shall pursue it."
Father Maurus was described as being about 5ft 6in tall with grey hair, a beard, and was walking with a stoop.
He was last seen wearing his light coloured monk's habit with the hood up and brown slip-on shoes.
