Danny MacAskill compares tricks with motorbiker Dougie Lampkin

Stunt pedal cyclist Danny MacAskill has helped to launch the final countdown to an international motorbike event taking place in Lochaber in June.

Mr MacAskill, originally from Skye, performed stunts in Edinburgh to promote the SPEA FIM Trial World Championships.

He was joined by 12 times champion Dougie Lampkin, from Yorkshire.

Sixty riders from 15 countries will compete in the championships at Nevis Range, near Fort William.

More than 8,000 spectators are expected to attend.

A video shot in Edinburgh of Mr MacAskill performing stunts attracted more than 350,000 hits in its first 40 hours on the video sharing site YouTube last April.

His mini film, Inspired Bicycles, was one of YouTube's most viewed videos with more than 17 million hits.

The street trials biker is shown jumping off roofs, a tree and even riding along spiky railings.
