The voice of the Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes will feature in a new film on Robin Hood.

The singer was at home in South Uist when she was contacted by director Sir Ridley Scott via a social networking website.

The award-wining director of Alien and Blade Runner heard her singing in Gaelic film Seachd.

Sir Ridley's latest film, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, is due to open the Cannes Film Festival.

Seachd screened in 2007 and was produced by Edinburgh-based Chris Young.
