Web campaign for isle's hospital

Islanders on Skye have launched a campaign on the social networking website Facebook to protect Portree Hospital.

Six beds were removed from the 18-bed hospital last year and accident and emergency cover was scaled back.

NHS Highland said the beds were removed because they were not being used. A&E cover is provided by Skye's Broadford Hospital after 2300 GMT.

Campaigners have been worried that further cuts could follow.
