More snow forecast for Highlands

Inverness saw heavy falls of snow at the weekend

Snow and temperatures of -10 degrees centigrade have been forecast for parts of the Highlands and Islands.

Light snow showers are expected over Stornoway in the Western Isles on Christmas Day, according to BBC weather forecasts.

Aviemore in the Cairngorms could see the temperature drop to -10 on Wednesday night.

Snow and sleet has been forecast for Inverness with cloud and sunny intervals expected on Christmas Day.

Seventy-two schools across the Highlands have closed because of the weather.

Wintry conditions over the weekend and overnight led to the closure of more than 120 schools across the region on Monday.

Flights to and from Inverness Airport were also disrupted.
