Fish factory to create 100 jobs

A salmon farming company has submitted a planning application for a £5m factory at Arnish, south of Stornoway.

Lighthouse Caledonia, once the Western Isles' largest private sector employer, said the proposed plant would create 100 jobs.

Bosses said the company was under different ownership when it closed a processing plant in Stornoway with the loss of 130 jobs last December.

Harvested salmon will be filleted at the factory.
