A man was taken to hospital for treatment to a badly injured hand after his ride-on lawn mower toppled into a lily pond in his garden.

Police, ambulance and fire crews went to the man's aid at his home in Dingwall on Sunday afternoon.

Officers from Northern Constabulary gave first aid at the scene, before the man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Police said it was understood he was injured by the machine's blades.

Firefighters helped the police in retrieving the mower from the pond.
