Search teams looking for a teenager who went missing in a river five days ago have found his body.

Laurence Parrott, 17, was last seen diving into the River Foyers near Loch Ness on Sunday.

His body was found and identified after extensive searches involving the RNLI, coastguards, police, mountain rescuers, fire crews and a helicopter.

His parents paid tribute to Laurence, from Errogie near Inverness, and to those who took part in the search.

The teenager's body was recovered at about 1515 BST on Friday when the water level in a pool was lower, which made the area more accessible to search teams.

The area is a popular beauty spot because of its views of Loch Ness.

In a statement released by Northern Constabulary, Laurence's father John Parrott said: "I would like to say we extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who assisted in the search and recovery of our son Laurence.

"This was not an easy task and was a difficult place to search. This made it extremely testing both physically and mentally for those involved.

"We are extremely grateful and it is a great relief to his friends and family that he's been found.

"So many people put so much effort in, especially today, and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for us."
