Train and bin lorry in collision

A train carrying 40 passengers and three staff has been involved in a collision with a refuse collection lorry on a Highlands level crossing.

British Transport Police said no-one was seriously injured. The incident involving the 1038 Inverness-Wick train happened near Brora at about 1300 BST.

The collision happened at a railway level crossing at Dalchalm.

BTP said the train returned to Brora Railway Station where the passengers were allowed off the carriages.

Transport police and Northern Constabulary have launched an investigation.
