Agency seeks resort compensation

A government-funded company is seeking compensation from Aviemore Highland Resort (AHR) after the tourist development went into administration.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) had £2.4m in shares with the consortium that formerly owned the resort.

AHR was put into administration last month.

The asset was bought up from the administrators by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts Ltd, which has been running the hotel on the site.

The hotel group already had a stake in AHR, along with Lloyds TSB and building firm Tulloch.

HIE, which receives funding from the Scottish Government, had also given more than £5m in grants to the holiday complex.
