Body of man found by hillwalker

A man's body has been discovered by a hillwalker in the Highlands, police have confirmed.

Police named him as Andrew Luckley, 35, a retail manager, from Fellwick Park, Whickham, in the Gateshead area.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said his body was found in an area known as Steall Falls in Glen Nevis at about 1750 BST on Thursday.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue team went to the scene and recovered the body from the foot of the falls.

The operation delayed the retirement of one of Scotland's longest serving mountain rescuers.

Terry Confield, 64, has now stood down from Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team - a post he has held during 23 of the 47 years he's been with them.

The new team leader is the former deputy leader, John Stevenson.
